- 3-pronged threaded spring seat
- High temperature 316 stainless Steel
- Resin sealed for improved corrosion resistance
- Simple secondary threading operation
A stainless steel spring seat that operates a pressure limit valve in a kidney dialysis machine won an award of distinction at recent MPIF Award ceremony. The miniature pressure limit valve is used in a variety of applications, adjusting flow in products used for medical and aerospace applications. The valve opens when the desired pressure is reached. The pressure is preset by adjusting the seat against the spring on the threaded shaft.
The part has a minimum yield strength of 33,000 psi (227N/mm2) and a density of 6.5 grams/cc. The P/M part replaced a two piece assembly of an extrusion and a screw machined part. P/M offered significant cost savings and the one piece design eliminated serious production problems and excessive rejects related to the two piece assembly.
